Mission & Vision Statement
The Oswego Valley Snowbelters Barbershop Chorus is a membership-based organization of singers who gather regularly to rehearse, perform, learn, and build fellowship through music. Our chorus represents a diverse cross-section of the greater Oswego community and beyond, united by a shared love of a cappella harmony and a commitment to using music as a force for connection, encouragement, and service.
Our Mission
Our mission is to enrich lives through the performance and preservation of barbershop harmony while actively supporting and uplifting our local community.
We strive to ensure that our music does more than entertain: it inspires, comforts, and creates meaningful impact. Through performances, outreach, and partnerships, we seek to bring joy to audiences while supporting organizations that serve individuals and families in need.
As part of this commitment, the Oswego Valley Snowbelters proudly support and collaborate with community-focused charitable efforts including:
Erin’s Angels, whose work assists families facing serious illness and life challenges
Operation Reindeer, which brings holiday support and dignity to local children and families
The Salvation Army, whose year-round service strengthens vulnerable members of our community
By aligning our performances and fundraising initiatives with these and other organizations, we aim to ensure that the gift of music extends beyond the stage and into meaningful acts of service.

Performance
The Snowbelters are dedicated to sharing live music throughout the community. Our annual Spring Show, Christmas performances, Singing Valentines, and appearances at local events allow us to bring harmony directly to audiences of all ages. These performances often serve as opportunities to raise awareness and support for charitable partners, ensuring our music contributes to causes that matter locally.
Education
We are passionate about continued growth in the art of a cappella singing. Through regular vocal instruction, coaching, and skill development, we cultivate musical excellence while encouraging personal growth, confidence, and lifelong learning among our members.
Fellowship & Community
Beyond music, we foster camaraderie and belonging among our members and audiences alike. Our goal is to create an environment where individuals feel welcomed, supported, and inspired: both within the chorus and across the broader community.
Competition & Artistic Growth
Participation in regional and international barbershop competitions connects us with a wider musical community and drives our pursuit of excellence. These events provide valuable feedback and inspiration that strengthen our ability to serve our audiences and partners through ever-improving performance quality.
Our Affiliation
The Oswego Valley Snowbelters are proud members of the Barbershop Harmony Society, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the barbershop art form. Through this affiliation, we remain connected to a global network of singers who share our commitment to musical excellence, fellowship, and community impact.
